Parent Conferences –Conferences will be held during the week of October 27th(please complete and return the enclosed schedule)

October 1/2 House Assembly – October 21st at 1:45 p.m.
Math Investigations-- We continued to develop fluency and self assess our addition combination knowledge using addition cards. We continued to play the two games we learned last week; “Tens Go Fish” and “Make Ten”.We hope you have enjoyed playing them at home. We began solving story problems by visualizing what is happening in the problem before we solve it.
Literacy -- In reading workshop we have been focusing on the comprehension strategy of visualizing or making a movie in our minds while we are reading. Through our study of Christopher Columbus, we have practiced visualizing all week. Also, we visited the engaging website, “Into the Book” where students can practice using the comprehension strategies that we are learning in school. In word study we focused on words with short o and long o vowels with silent “e”.We read a poem emphasizing these patterns, played games, and hunted for these words within their texts. In writing workshop we continued to practice creative writing in our “writer’s notebooks.”
