Our mission is to provide the National Weather Service in Jacksonville with severe weather reports from trained spotters in a timely and accurate fashion. We will activate whenever SKYWARN activation is requested by the NWS or at the discretion of the St. Johns SKYWARN leadership.
Severe Weather Activation
For a severe thunderstorm or tornado watch in St. Johns county we will activate a SKYWARN Net on the 145.210 repeater:
- There will be no tones brought up
- A SKYWARN Net Control Station will make announcements pertaining to the watch and monitor the repeater for severe weather reports.
- The net will be in "Stand-By" mode and and the net will not be in a directed net and the repeater is free for normal traffic.
For severe thunderstorm or tornado warning in St. Johns county we will activate a SKYWARN Net on the 145.210 repeater:
- There will be no tones brought up
- A SKYWARN Net Control Station will make announcements pertaining to the warning and monitor the repeater for severe weather reports.
- The net will be in "Active" mode and will be a directed net. All traffic should be directed to Net Control

Urgent Priority
- Tornado
- Funnel cloud
- Rotatiing wall cloud
- Flash floodin
High Priority
- Hail - 3/4 diameter or larger
- Measured wind speeds of 58 mph or greater
- Persistent non-rotating wall cloud
- Measured rainfall of 1" or more per hour
Lower Priority
- Hail 1/2 inch diameter or larger
- Wind speed greater than 40 mph
- Cloud features suggesting storm organization
- Other locally defined criteria
