Our Playgroup Program (update!)
TUITION (update!)
EVENTS & NEWS (update!)
updated 10/26/2010 | Last class of "Time for Play" will be the last week of August 2011 Thank you for supporting our program, it was lots of fun to provide!! Unfortunately our support from Every Child Counts (First 5 Alameda), ended at the end of June 2011, as our request for continued funding was not approved.
The Summer 2011 Session will be the last session of Time for Play - unless we can find an alternative funding source to supplement the amount paid by families. If you have any suggestions on alternative funding sources/grants please let us know! Time for Play was located in St. John's Presbyterian's Community Center at 2727 College Ave, on the main floor, near the sanctuary. Our playgroup is designed to be a space where toddlers from 12 -36 months and their caregivers can read, play, learn, and have fun together – at their own pace. Time For Play has an experienced facilitator who prepares a mix of new and routine activities each session. The program includes creative (messy!) art projects, developmentally appropriate toys and activities, including music and stories. A unique component of the Time for Play groups is that we are able to provide developmental screenings and parent education opportunities to children and families in our community. The Summer Sessions of Time for Play will run from the week of July 4 until the end of August (last Friday class, Sept 2, 2011 Playgroup provides opportunities for children to:
- play in a safe and stimulating environment

- make crafts

and adults to:
- Meet other parents
- Learn ways to encourage your child's development
- Discuss parenting issues
- Access resources
A unique component of the Time for Play groups is that we are able to provide developmental screenings and parent education opportunities to children and families in our community. We also have an Early Intervention team of educators and pediatric specialists to offer consultation services, answer questions, or provide further assessments for families at "Time for Play", as well as for those children at our center or in our community that may have developmental challenges that may need support before significant delays develop. There is also a parent resource library available and several parent education workshops will be provided.
