"Language is not an abstract construction of the learned, or of dictionary makers, but is something arising out of the work, needs, ties, joys, affections, tastes, of long generations of humanity, and has its bases broad and low, close to the ground." - Noah Webster

Welcome to my website. My name is Ellen Marie St. John. I'm a freshman studying at the University of South Florida but am attempting to graduate early due to credits earned during high school. I'm majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a Language, Speech, and Hearing concentration. I'm minoring in Sociology and potentially American Sign Language. I'm also in the Honors program and will be writing my thesis during my senior year.

My driving force is my brother, Michael. He is developmentally disabled and has multiple speech and language issues. I grew up accompaning him to speech therapy sessions. I developed an interest in this field because it would allow me to help children and adults to overcome their language difficulties.
