1. Thinkfinity Calendar

The Thinkfinity calendar provides a daily springboard for an interesting exploration. Choose any day in October or November. Click the link to view the list of activities and corresponding Websites. Visit a number of the sites. Focus on one or two sites and create a classroom activity on the topic. Post your activity on our Google Groups Discussion board.

2a. EEZ (Educational Enterprise Zone)

The Technology-Based Learning Systems Department of the New York Institute of Technology, in partnership with Verizon and the Hitachi Foundation, has created a not-for-profit consortium named the Educational Enterprise Zone®. Members of this consortium are content providers who create programming for K-12 classrooms and learning environments that receive the programming, as well as corporate facilitators such as Verizon and Tandberg USA who assist with hardware, software and connectivity needs for the various programs the EEZ® sponsors. Content providers come from a variety of educational, public and private sector arenas. Cultural institutions, museums, research centers and small businesses offer member schools a wide range of curricular programming, allowing the receiving members to meet instructional needs.

Click on “Provider Members” on the left side of the home page.

Visit at least 10 of the Provider Member sites.
Choose 2 sites and write a paragraph for each one describing how you might use the resources on the site with your students. Post your paragraph on our Google Groups Discussion board.

2b. Aligning New York State Standards and Thinkfinity

The EEZ at NYIT, partnership with New York State Teacher Centers  coordinated a project to align NY State Learning Standards with Thinkfinity Resources. Here is the Project Web site:

The site features two ways to search the state standards. You can search by Title, Subject, Grade, Keyword or you can search by the NY State Learning Standards. Try using both of the search methods to locate Thinkfinity resources. Did the search locate appropriate resources? Is the site useful? Post your comments on our Google Groups Discussion board.


3. Fun Stuff: Read, Write, Think Crossword Puzzle Tool

The teacher can create their own crossword puzzle to almost any lesson that they choose on this website.  Create a crossword puzzle on any relevant curriculum project.

4. Class Comments
Finally, post at least one comment (in our Google Group) for one of the slideshows posted for the second assignment.
