Stickman 5.6 and previous versions uses a one-time license activation. You do not need to keep a backup of the license because your name and email is good enough identification. If you are in doubt, you can keep a copy of the email you get with payment information after purchase. The problem with licenses is that when you reinstall windows, the license will expire. This is why Stickman 5.7 comes with a system in addition to licenses. This system is called digital signatures and Stickman is the first software in the world using it in a new concept.
The reason why it is called "digital signature" has several meanings. First, it is the signature of the creator which is digitized in a picture. Second a digital fingerprint is generated from the picture, which can only come the creator of Stickman. Third another digital fingerprint is stored inside Stickman, but this can not be used to create fingerprints. Fourth these two fingerprints together protects the real signature and your name on the picture from being changed. In a way, the technology is just simulating ink and paper, but the real value of it comes from which hand does the writing. In works just the same way as when the author signs a book with your name and his signature, everybody can see who owns the book. This makes it it much more safer than the DRM system against piracy, at the same time you get the rights and control necessary over Stickman.
If the program ever becomes unsupported, the program will be released under open source, or the users that have a signature are allowed to distribute their signature to other users, since nobody will sue them for it. Because licenses is easier to distribute, Stickman 5.7 first comes with a license, and when you need a signature you can ask for it. |
