Hi! I'm Sheryl Thomas, Assistant Principal of Instruction and Curriculum at Caddo Parish Magnet High School located in Shreveport, Louisiana. Caddo Magnet High is a college preparatory school for academics and performing arts. We are one of the top high schools in the United States and are nationally recognized by U.S. News and World Report as a Silver Medal winner (in the top 3% of high schools) and by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School (for academic superiority). We are the only high school in northern Louisiana to receive a grade of "A" by the Louisiana Department of Education. Students who are new to the area should download an application from this site or from www.caddomagnet.net. Applications for school year 2012-13 are available in middle schools, at Magnet High and on our website beginning Dec. 15, 2011. Please return the application and all relevant information to our registrar, Janet Wheat. Once accepted, students take placement tests that take about 2.5-3 hours. The placement tests cover English Language Arts topics, general mathematics skills, and Algebra skills for students who have already taken Algebra I or a higher math class. Students also write a short essay. Our freshman/new student orientation, called Great Expectations, is held a week or so before the start of school.
Through this site, you may download a copy of our handbook, in which you may find dress code, attendance and other policies as well as information about our academics and extra curricular activities. Also posted are important dates for progress reports, ends of nine weeks and report cards. Parents may arrange a tour of our campus by calling 364-5074 and speaking with our registrar, Janet Wheat.
