Who Are We?

W
e come from many faith traditions and communities, united in our Christian mission to feed the poor in our community.

We strive to live by the words and example of Jesus by reaching out to the economically disadvantaged in our community in a loving and life-giving manner, and creating a welcoming and inviting atmosphere.

We serve the needs of the poor in zip codes 45217, 45219, and 45220. We do this by providing both non-perishable and perishable food, as well as personal care items and clothing, to carry them through difficult times and maintain their dignity.

We are mostly volunteers serving in many different capacities, and organized by Janet Cavanaugh, Food Pantry Director, and the St. George Interfaith Food Pantry Board.

We come from all walks of life, from students to senior citizens, from singles to families, and include all desiring to be of service.

We are a member agency of the Freestore Foodbank.

We were formed as an outreach of St. George Parish Newman Center in 1980, and still maintain a close connection to St. Monica-St. George Parish Newman Center.

We also receive continuous support from Annunication Parish, Roger Bacon High School, Good Shepherd Parish, Moeller High School, Mt Auburn Presbyterian Church, Union Savings Bank, and many others.

We are linked to the broader community of social service agnecies in the Greater Cincinnati area, and make referrals to those agencies in the appropriate situations.

We strive to improve the sustainability of our local community by diverting excess food production from unnecessary landfill waste to productive utilization to feed the poor. We also recycle and re-use limited amounts of gently used clothing and household items to improve the lives of the economically disadvantaged.

We recognize the personal dignity of each and every person who steps across our thresholod, and strive to work with each in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.
