Kawasaki KZ650 1977

This beautiful vintage motorcycle has only had 2 riders. This was the first year of this model, the motor did not endure many changes through 1983 unlike the tank and frame.  At the time this was one of the fastest motorcycles on the road, Kawasaki advertised that "Right out of the crate it will out-perform any 750 in the world."  This would have been somewhat true but Suzuki introduced the GS750 in 1977.  Although the KZ 650 (also may be known as the Z650, in reference to the Z1 witch was introduced in 1973) produced a respectable 64bhp and has a smooth top speed of 110mph, the GS 750 produced 68bhp giving it a top speed over 120mph. The GS 750 may have the KZ 650 beat in horse power, both bike offered smooth handling (but you can tell that the KZ650 is much lighter), but the KZ has become known for its reliability. This is a rare bike in the North America, they were only imported in the UK in 1976 and half of 1977 most US models were imported too late and were given the model year of 1978.  After designing the Z1, the KZ 650 became Ben Inamura's next creation. Some consider the KZ650 the best Kawasaki ever built, with the handling of a 500cc bike and the power of a 750cc.
