Welcome to the long awaited website of the Stevenage Model Boat Club. We are a very friendly bunch of model boaters, most of us are from around Stevenage, but some come from further afield. At the moment our youngest member is 17, but all ages are welcome. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult, as this can be a dangerous sport. Dogs welcome but must be kept on leads.
We meet on Thursday afternoons from 2:00pm, and Sunday mornings from 9:00am. Our club is very lucky to be one of the few model boat clubs left in the country able to run Internal Combustion engine powered boats, These are mainly run on Sundays but we do get a couple run on Thursday afternoons. We cater for all types of model boats, Fast electric, Steam, Warships and Military, Power boats of all kinds and even Hydroplanes that can reach speeds in excess of 100mph The club is affiliated to the Offshore Model Racing Association (OMRA) and the Model Power Boat Association (MPBA) Anyone is welcome to turn up and have a look, but to sail on our lake for safety and insurance reasons you must be a member of either OMRA or the MPBA.  © Stevenage Model Boat Club and Andrew Nightingale 2008 |
