Content Tommy Hopkins, wounded soldier, tells his story of the Crimean War. Discover what life was like in the army and how terrible the siege of Sebastopol was. Tommy finishes his story with an account of the hospital at Scutari and the work of Florence Nightingale. But has Tommy recovered enough to continue fighting or will he be sent home to England and his family? Format Tommy tells his tale after which children are invited to interview him with questions about Scutari, Florence Nightingale and the Crimean war. 'I could really imagine what the war was like.'
