Come to Step It Up Silicon Valley and be part of the largest day of citizen action on climate change in our country's history (see Step It Up 2007)! We'll be joined by more than 1000 events on April 14, 2007, collectively calling on Congress to reduce carbon emissions 80% by 2050. In addition, at Step It Up Silicon Valley, you will:
- Kick-off Palo Alto Earth Week 2007 with a family festival.
- Hear what local governments are doing to address climate change. Mayor Kishimoto of Palo Alto will share next steps on recommendations of the City's Green Ribbon Task Force on Climate Protection and a representative from Sierra Club's Cool Cities campaign will update us on other localities taking the climate change challenge (see program).
- Hear how local businesses are combating climate change. Speakers will outline climate initiatives from Sustainable Silicon Valley and the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce (see program).
- Help Acterra launch Green@Home, a home carbon reduction program.
- Enjoy music by renowned children's singer-songwriter Nancy Cassidy as well as The Raging Grannies!
- Visit the many information booths and kids activities.
- Prize drawing for everyone who comes by bicycle, bus, foot, rollerblades -- anything but a private motor vehicle!
Sponsored by: Acterra, the City of Palo Alto, and Roche.
