In this category, you will find a description of all of the Stephenson shifts and their duties, as well as a listing of who is scheduled to do what shift at what time (links on the left or at the bottom of the page). A note about shifts, and why we do them: In exchange for a greatly reduced price on room and board fees, residents of scholarship halls are required to do one cooking or cleaning shift per semester. These shifts usually take between 2 and 4 hours per week, and are selected at the beginning of each semester by the Proctor and Food Board Manager. When assigning a resident to a shift, they take into account things like class schedules, any work schedules, resident preference, and availability of other residents to work the shift. Shift swaps are possible on a temporary or permanent basis, and require the signature of both residents involved on the shift swap form on the Proctor's door. Failure to complete the assigned shift on time and in a satisfactory manner may result in a Jayboard (a disciplinary action specific to the scholarship halls). Shifts will be checked each night by the Proctor or Food Board Manager at 10:30 p.m. |
