Homework: May 17th

posted May 17, 2011 10:45 AM by Nicole Staudt

Tonight, the students need to study for their math and social studies tests.  Their math test is over perimeter, area, and volume.  They brought home perimeter and area study sheets, and I asked them to take home their book as well to study from.  The lessons in the book are 12.12-12.14.  In social studies, they are bringing home a packet of the work they have done throughout the chapter, and their books, to study from.  They need to reveiew Chapter 10 in their books.  Some students did not finish their pen pal letters today in class, so they brought those home to work on tonight.  Don't forget about the research report due tomorrow.  They are also bringing home two tests to sign (Language Arts and Religion).

Tonight, the students have English WB p.84-85 over capitalizing proper nouns.  Please be sure they re-read the directions and follow them as directed.  They also have a math test over perimeter, area, and volume on Thursday, and they have a chapter 10 social studies test on Thursday as well.  Their research paper is due on Wendesday.  The rubric will be posted on the classroom website later on this afternoon.  Also, I asked the students to double check at home whether you, as parents, are comfortable letting your child give their pen pal in Ireland their home address to continue keeping in touch throughout the summer.  This has never been an issue before, but I wanted them to double check.  They have had a great time this year writing letters to their pen pals!

Tonight, the students need to finish their spelling activities and study for their test tomorrow.  They also have a reading test tomorrow they can study for if needed.  Don't forget, their research reports are due next Wednesday the 18th, and if your child is still working on their multiplication and division facts, they need to be studying at home.  Thanks!

Homework: May 12th

Tonight, the two main things the students need to do are study for their chapter 13 religion test and study for their language arts test over adjectives and adverbs.  If your child brought home a language arts book to help with studying, they can use the Unit Check up pages on p.276-277 and 396-397.  Also, a page or two after those unit check up pages are some extra practice pages you can work through.  Don't forget to review spelling words and do the homework activities.  Finally, their research reports are due next Wednesday, the 18th.  If you have any questions, let me know.

Homework: May 10th

Tonight, the students need to read pages 366-367 in social studies and answer review questions #1-4 to be turned in tomorrow.  They have a religion test on Thursday they need to study for along with a language arts test over adjectives and adverbs on Thursday.  Don't forget about the spelling homework activities (due Friday) and reviewing words for the test on Friday.  Research reports are due next Wednesday the 18th.  I posted a link online of a sample research report the students can use to get an idea of how I want it structured (without the question headings), how I want it to sound, and introduction/conclusion sentences.  Finally, if your child is still doing multiplication and division quizzes, they need to be studying their facts.  Thanks!

Homework: May 9th

Tonight, the students need to read the story in their reading book Tony's Bread.  Our schedule is very out of routine this week, which is why we are reading the story tonight.  If your child is still working through their multiplication and division quizzes, they need to be studying their multiplication/division facts.  There are two tests that need to be signed and returned tonight (math and science), and they need to review their spelling words for a test on Friday.  Since we do not have a spelling packet this week (these are summer words), they need to complete THREE homework activities on the handout that went home today.  There will be a language arts test over adjectives and adverbs on Thursday, so please begin studying for that.  Finally, their research reports are due on Wednesday, May 18th.  If you have any questions, let me know!  Thanks.

Homework: May 5th

Tonight, the students need to read their story, Ribsy and the Roast, one more time before the test tomorrow.  They also need to study for their spelling test.  They have phonics p.141 and 142, which is over changing f to v and adding -es to make words plural.  Finally, there is an Easter quiz to be signed and returned by tomorrow.  Thanks!

Homework: May 3rd

Tonight, the students have DHP 12.14, which is over the volume of shapes.  We talked about how you multiply the number of rows, by the number in each row, and then the number of layers (in other words: length, width, height).  They were doing well in class, so hopefully the homework goes well for them, too.  They have a math test on Thursday they should begin studying for.  They should use their books to review all the vocabulary in the chapter.  Their science test over outer space is tomorrow, so make sure they study tonight.  Their lesson review sheets are going home today.  Finally, review those spelling words for the test on Friday.  Thanks!

Homework: May 2nd

Tonight, the students have DHP 12.13 which is over finding the area of shapes and figures.  They will have a math test on Thursday, since they finish the chapter tomrorow.  In science they need to study for their test, which will be on Wednesday.  This was noted in their planners last week and again tonight.  Finally, do not forget to begin studying those spelling words for the test on Friday.

Homework: April 28th

Tonight, the students need to read the story Tornado Alert once more before our reading test tomorrow.  Their book reports are also due as well.  They need to study for their Easter religion quiz.  It was only three lessons long (p.348-353), and they really need to know the stories in the first two lessons.  Please make sure they review their words for the spelling test tomorrow, and finally, if you have a chance and can see the moon, make sure they draw it in their science notebooks.  Thanks!
