Nordstan, Gothenburg, Sweden, 16-22 Jan 2012
Come and see pole vault, as you never experienced it before!

Gothenburg commercial metropolis Nordstan, the largest shopping center in Scandinavia, offers pole vault competitions over six days.

Focused track and field events have a long tradition in the Nordic countries and pole vault is an event that attracts special interest where an old saying can be applied “If Mohammed won’t come to the mountain, then the mountain must come to Mohammed”.

For spectators it becomes an experience of "close encounters of the third kind", a drama that otherwise would only go on display in living rooms or in the bleachers of a World Cup arena or an Olympic stadium, such as Gothenburg Ullevi Stadium, host of the World Championships in 1995 and European Championships in 2006 or in Scandinavium, the indoor stadium in Gothenburg and stage of the 2013 European indoor Championships in Athletics.

Gothenburg is ”Track-town number one” in Sweden and the pole vault carnival, “Stavhoppskarnevalen” in Swedish, is a celebration to the sport and pole vault in particular, that leaves neither spectators nor athletes unmoved.

During the carnival several competitions are conducted for every type of athlete, from young talented teenagers to established vaulters on national team level.
