My name is James Staten and I'm a 40 something endurance athlete, coach, and charity volunteer who in 2010 will be the first person to run every Rock and Roll Endurance Series event in 2010 - hopefully with your help.
With 19 marathons and countless half marathons under my belt, I have chosen to run all eight marathons and the six remaining half marathons in this series all in the same calendar year.
These 14 events are part of my ten year quest to complete 50 marathons by my 50th birthday.
As a runner I have qualified for and run the Boston Marathon (2008), have a marathon PR of 3:19 (Cal International Marathon 2007) and a half marathon PR of 1:31 (Santa Cruz Marathon, 2007). I just completed the inaugural Santa Rosa Marathon and in November the New York City Marathon. The PF Chang's Rock and Roll Arizona marathon will be my 20th marathon.
In addition to being a runner, I am a coach for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. I have been with the Northern California Chapter since 2004; a coach since 2007. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to share my love of running, help others experience the thrill of crossing that finish line and helping them to raise the funds needed to beat cancer.
I hope through my participation in all 14 Rock n Roll events to promote healthy living, endurance athletics, the products and services of my sponsors and the ongoing fight against blood cancers. I have personally raised over $50,000 for the LLS and hope to raise $10,000 through this campaign. It is also my goal to encourage many others to join the team, start living healthier by getting into running and learn how they can improve their lives.
Through this web site, my blog and through Twitter I will be chronicling this quest, promoting my sponsors and encouraging others to join me and join Team in Training.
I am seeking sponsorship to cover race entries, product needs and support for LLS. Race entries are $1,200 for the full year. I am also asking sponsors to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's efforts to fight blood cancers. You can donate via the link on the left bar of this page.
What I can do for you:
This sponsorship will provide your company with visibility through my training, promotion and coaching activities through the rest of 2009 and throughout 2010. I will wear your company logo on my training and event competition attire and am willing to participate in your marketing efforts, make appearances and speak at events on your behalf. I am an accomplished presenter who is media trained (and a former journalist). I am an enthusiastic, determined and professional individual who will represent your company in the most mature and responsible manner.
PR efforts thus far have yielded Podcast interviews with Runcast.net and Running with Ghosts. I will also soon be featured on The Extra Mile Podcast.
You will also benefit from my presence and the visibility your logo will get (and any marketing activities we do together) at each Rock and Roll Endurance event. These events will take place throughout 2010 in the following cities: Phoenix, New Orleans, Dallas, Nashville, San Diego, Seattle, Chicago, Virginia Beach, Philadelphia, Denver, San Jose, Los Angeles, San Antonio and Las Vegas. Each of these events attracts between 10-30,000 runners and approximately 50,000 spectators and volunteers. I will be in each city Saturday and Sunday of each event providing visibility at the Health & Fitness Expo on Saturday, in addition to race day
Won't you help me complete this quest and participate in it with me?
