EQUIPMENT TRAINING: In order to conduct the day to day security detail, an officer must have a grasp on the tools and equipment that aid in his or her safety and the safety of others. Such as radio use, metal wand use, phone use, computer use, camera use, alarm use, electronic automatic doors, bomb detection devices, x-ray machines, vehicle lights, handcuff use, baton use, OC spray use, firearm use and in some cases even basic office equipment. CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION: Reading and learning from a text book is just half of the experience. Officers also get hands on training regarding actual field situations and response. Tactics that can save not just their lives, but that of the public as well. It ensures that an officer isn't just knowledgible on how to handle a situation, but also physically capable of de-escalating an immediate threat. | FIREARMS TRAINING: The use of deadly force will always be an unfortunate last result. To carry a firearm on duty is not only a privilege but an enormous responsibility. Our officers are not only state and federally screened, they are also trained in a controlled enviornment with a certified instructor of the state in how to handle high risk life and death situations. Officers are required to qualify on proper procedure and proficiency twice a year. DEFENSE AND ARREST TACTICS (DAAT) TRAINING: This training is necessary for every officer. It involves the practice of enforcing the compliance of a subject who is unwilling to cooperate and is a safety risk. The officer is taught the correct use and deployment of handcuffs, their baton, pepper spray, defense and subject detainment. REPORT WRITING: Report writing is crucial in todays society of court intervention. Many times the officer is the only witness to a crime when facts are needed. Reports are also used to communicate an officer's activity through out a shift documenting what they observed and reporting any concerns. Officers are taught how to communicate their activity and observations on paper for client, law enforcement and court review if ever needed. |
