Using Chart I, obtain the index # for the would-be bridegroom & the would-be bride.

Assume would-be bridegroom's Star as Krittika in Aries. Index # for this is 3.

Assume star of the would-be bride as Mrigasira in Taurus. Index # for this is 6.

                                     
Using the would-be bride's index #, select 6th row and obtain the value against would-be bridegroom's index # i.e. 3rd column.
The value thus obtained is 18 kutas --- which also happens to be the minimum required for an OKAY to the proposal.

How to use this chart :
Find out the birth-star (i.e. the star on which Moon was standing in birth-chart) of the would-be bride-groom together with the zodiac sign where the star is located.
To facilitate this, horizontally as well as vertically, the row/columns are marked 1 to 36. Locate the would-be bridegroom's star horizontally. And likewise, locate the would-be bride's star vertically, using rows marked 1,2,3 .... 36 on the extreme left hand side. Then, read the indicated figure.

Example :
Assuming the Boy's star is CHITRA in Virgo and that of the Girl VISAKHA in Libra, the number of kutas/marks obtained is 26. This being well above 18 kutas/marks, is good enough.

Those who are unable to get the horoscopes of the would-be couples matched by astrologers well-versed in the line, can confidently use this tabulation for finding agreement between horoscopes before marriage. Where the number of kutas obtained is less than 18, such couples are said to be unfit for matrimonial alliance.

According to eminent Kerala Astrologers, which is also universally accepted, if Madhyama Rajju Dosha exists, matrimonial alliance is never okayed. Rajju, Gana, Yoni Porutha and Dosha Samya are the four classifications or kutas where agreement between the couples is all the more needed. Readers are therefore advised, that, after finding agreement between the horoscopes as per the above tabulation, an astrologer may be asked to especially look into these. Dosha Samya is not considered in this tabulation.
