Kay Pannell  Mustering Back, A Soldier’s Sacred Rite

Kay will be organizing pre-production meetings In February, 2009.
Contact: kay_pannell_at_hotmail.com

Sacred Play/Ritual Theater: This is a ritual that has theater elements. This is intended to be a purification rite for combat veterans, to allow returning vets to be given the space and time to re-adjust their minds, spirits, and emotions. The ritual allows them to transition out of the battlefield “head space” and back into the civilian world. There is a theater presentation at the beginning, which sets the stage for their journey. They will be taken through different rooms to undergo specific ritual purifications at each area. The venue will be the USS Hornet, and they will be taken through the “Underworld” of the ships passages and rooms to each purification spot. At the end, they re-immerge into a banquet hall.

successful production . Thanks - Lezlie

Although this play must go before the re-created governance board and be proposed at the Troupe Convocation a 2nd time to make this happen.  Please stay in touch. Should all go well (and, all of you interested should chime in here!),  I will then re-activate the Mumming for Yule list & post a note there & in the newsletter close to Summer Solstice with a date & time of convening for the 2009 Mummer's play. (I would be really interested in discussing this project with a play director.)  At this time: Lauren is working on arranging the music, Matthew has choreographed a wonderful fight sequence (you don't need to be a fencing expert), and there are three costumers interested.  Ric Goldman who works on a Bay Area-wide Morris & Longsword  society is also on-board for 2009. We have a TON of stuff donated that we can use.  Meanwhile, at some point I would like to suggest that the idea of an annual Mumming event be discussed as an agenda item by the re-formed governance board and at the Full Troupe Convocation.  Please be there!  BB! This play is being brought before TSCP for 2010. We have lost one composer through an extremely unfortunate series of circumstances which may never be healed.  However, the script is ready for "incubation" and Lauren Hotchkiss has some great ideas for the music. I am currently seeking a director funding.  We have an invitation to take this play to Yorkshire once it has had it's premiere run here in California. If you are interested in this play, I am happy to discuss it with you. If you are an instrumentalist, please talk to Lauren, although I have not discussed music direction or play direction with anyone at this time, Lauren is the composer.  BB! Tea & Plays: 2nd Thursday evenings, begins March 12 7 - 9 PM . RSVP for address: doclezlie_at_gmail.com The idea is to be

informal, but serious, meet once a month and work out scenes, read aloud, and to discuss what we need to do to make our writing work.  Because this is about plays & TSCP only does musicals, directors and composers are welcome, but the focus is on writing.  Poetry created for performance is welcome -- but --  it is not the main focus. TSCP will sponsor this monthly "Tea & Plays" as playwrights did found this troupe to do our work in, but (certainly)  it isn't closed to people who aren't TSCPers. We will move from home to home or meet in cafes. Grounds rules are:  This is not a support group or a "critiquing circle" * Drop in and out as you need to, but stay long enough that we know who you are * No novels, novellas, shorts, or other prose. * Be kind, but honest.* Bring a snack.
