Do We Owe Anyone Apologies? 8. The Ritual Theater Festival 9. Our Legal Status Resolved: *try to work on a functional core Group (Deadline: Mid-September, vision/mission statement?) * Work better with book keeper * Evelie will follow-up on Sloan’s Reach (re: legal status) * Mummer’s Play approved for winter 2008 & 2 plays approved for 2009/10 (Mustering Home – 2010, with qualifications - & AQOS) * Support Ritual Theatre Festival, but need more info. Beginning with 4, Reports on the status of Sam, Donna, and Steven: Evelie: Sam is in high school now, and very busy. She failed to show up for a meeting made long in advance. Since she is a core group member, she should probably decide if she still wants to be one. Lauren: Sam resigned from the AQOS production over questions of voice. Lezlie: Donna was asked to leave TSCP due to an altercation at a private event. She was the Chief Costumer, leaving that post empty. Tatyanna is in place [what did I mean by that?! – Mu], but overwhelmed – needs assistant for grant searching. Steve was asked to step down. Lauren: Shelly is absorbed with her mother’s medical problems. All sent Shelly healing energy. Lezlie: Item 1, State of the Troupe There are 42 members, or Starholders. Of those, 15 are active. Membership is based on participation – when one is involved in a production, one is an active member; otherwise, inactive. TSCP meets bi-annually. The Playwright and Director of each production are the Managers. Item 3 – A Scolding from the Bookkeeper TSCP needs a Chief Financial Officer to submit business plans, issue checks, etc. Lezlie has been running things out of her own checkbook. The original TSCP bank account has been closed. Item 9 – What is Our Legal Status? How do we manage this? Suggestion to discuss options online. There are 210 people on the mailing list. We are a member of Theater Bay Area. Report on the Moody Blues show that Lauren and Evelie attended – “Wow!” Lezlie and Evelie will be attending the Shamanism Conference. Item 1, continued: The Core Group is dysfunctional! We can’t achieve a quorum! There is frustration, anger! So far, there has been an organic, center-out organization. Evelie has been head of Performance Michelle – tech Lezlie – Writer and founding member Lauren – Writer and founding member Mark – Musician – Founding member Sam – Youth member We try to have an odd number for voting purposes There is a mandate to make decisions for the good of the whole Board of Arts? With advisors, not administrators The Spiritual Core is not functional! Discussion: Lauren: will be stepping down from the core group Evelie: wants to see TSCP continue. She has volunteered a lot – vocal coach, garage sale, etc. Need more focus on ritual, perhaps? Lauren: need more interactivity of the outer members (in circle diagram) Evelie: need revisioning meeting in sacred space Lezlie: that’s the idea behind “night out” – going out with each other Kay: surprised at the continuance of the group after TGWTTS. Can only be involved on a limited, specific basis. Also, has a play she wishes to present. Lezlie: wants to step back from leadership Item 9 (Legal status), continued: Options: *Umbrella *Non-profit *Umbrella-ed under a non-profit [?]*Seek professional development agency *A private business Evelie: Grants – Reclaiming wanted to offer grant agreement, not financial assistance Sloan’s Reach offered an umbrella-ship (Mr. Lucci). Will follow up. We have a lawyer, (-) (contract and criminal law), and a judge (-) mid-September for Core Group plan to present to group – communicate by email. The Ritual Theater Festival We’ve been invited; should we attend, support, be involved, or? Evelie will be involved. Mark volunteered to assist Evelie with Artist Liaison duties, hopes there will be payment for same. It will be 4 days long, to echo 4 seasons, 4 directions. Deco: 2 stages plus…small performance areas? Musical environments? ? Scheduled for either late 2009 or 2010. Core Group resolves to support RTF – Lauren advises to “put it in writing” 3 Plays or Productions Under Consideration Kay Pannell: “Mustering Home” presents her proposal for a ritual with theatrical aspects to be staged on the USS Hornet, a “mustering” back into civilian life for combat-experienced veterans. Offer these vets spiritual cleansing, forgiveness for taking life, in their own spiritual traditions, whatever they might be. November 2009 or 2010. Lezlie: suggests TSCP ask for more information as the project develops, but not commit yet. Misgivings about liability issues – it is psychologically charged material. The State of AQOS Lauren: production is in hiatus. Need to expand staff to avoid burnout. No deadline yet…late fall or early next year? Lezlie: don’t know how to actively support the project now. Dick: need 1) more money and 2) more male choristers; why is there so much trouble finding them? Lezlie: submit budgets and plan. Mummer Play – A play Yes, we should do it, but who will do it? Maybe only Lezlie and Evelie are available to do it? (Lezlie & Evelie agreed.) Buried Moon Was not discussed. Tabled for January. |
