This page is mostly oriented towards those of you who are taking out student loans, on financial aid, or concerned with the cost of living on campus in general. While this page will not cover everything in absolute detail, it will give you an idea of how much housing costs, and where your money goes. How much does it cost to live on campus? On the order of $2500 per quarter, but it depends. On top of the standard rates shown on the undergraduate rates chart, each dorm can charge a dorm fee to help pay for dorm activities. These include beach trips, dorm dinners, etc. Even if you do not plan on participating in dorm activities, these fees are required, and are considered part of your Stanford Bill that you must pay at the beginning of every quarter. How do I actually pay for it?Your housing bill is included is part of your Stanford Bill, which combines the cost of your tuition, student activities, private music lessons, housing, etc all into one giant bill. To pay your bill online, sign onto Axess with your SUNetID, and click on "Pay Bill" on the left hand navigation bar.Does financial aid cover housing?Yes and no. It all depends on how much aid the financial aid office thinks you need. Your financial aid first covers your tuition, and then your housing, so if you are fairly well off, you may only be required to pay for housing. On the other hand, if you live below the poverty line, your financial aid will cover everything including housing, student activities fees, tuition, etc. For more details and to ask personal questions, go to the Student Financial Aid website. |
