Crothers is getting a complete renovation over the summer of 2009, and is scheduled to house almost 400 upperclassmen in the upcoming fall.  It is composed of two separate buildings, Crothers, and Crothers Memorial.  They are both almost identical except Crothers has a basement with living quarters--probably the worst spots in all of Crothers.

It's a bit early to speculate about what the rooms will be like, and how nice the furnishing will be.  However, Stanford Housing has told us that there will be brand new furniture, showers and bathrooms.  For those of you who are often concerned with how dirty the bathrooms are, you are bound like enjoy this.  Just as Stern's bathrooms are famous for their cleanliness, the bathrooms and Crothers will probably be just as clean.  Showers will be stall-based, so you will not have to put up with flimsy curtains.

Dorm culture is completely undefined at the moment, as the entire staff is new, including the resident fellows.  The sheer size of the complex though will mean that the strong cohesive force present in smaller Wilbur and Stern dorms will not exist.  Many speculate that it will be like Roble, where it is sometimes difficult to make new friends because the sheer number of residents will make it hard to get to know people well.

In the future, Crothers is scheduled to have its own dining hall.  However, that is still in the works and scheduled for sometime during the 2011-2012 school year.  In the meantime, residents will probably eat at either the Toyon Eating Clubs (which will be managed by Stanford Dining starting in the 2009-2010 school year), or Stern Dining.
