Information for Current Members

Thermals: We are ordering Kite Flying Society thermal sweatshirts. After an online poll, it was decided the thermals would be printed on light blue shirts with navy lettering. The cost is $20 for a plain thermal and $24 to get it customized with your name on the back. The thermals are printed on American Apparel, so why not buy one that shows off your kite flying love? Please email Greg Gorraiz (gorraiz[AT]stanford.edu) with your order.

Kite Flying Days: Our meetings are pretty sporadic and last indefinitely. To stay up to date, make sure to subscribe to the email list. Generally, meetings have take place on Wilbur Field on Friday afternoons as a way to unwind after a long week. Feel free to join us anytime.

Materials: We have limited kites to go around so we encourage people to bring their own kites. Alternatively, we can take turns flying kites if it is inconvenient or a financial burden for you to fly your own kite.

Officers:
  • President and Founder - Greg Gorraiz
  • Vice President - Kayla Paulk
  • Financial Officer - Mike Kim
History: The Kite-Flying Society was founded in Soto, the dorm in which most of the members reside, fall quarter of the academic year 2008-2009 at Stanford. The president, Greg Gorraiz had previously started a Kite Flying Society at his high school, inspired by the movie Rushmore, and decided to bring kite flying to Stanford as well.
