"Stanford Presents" Speaker Series --- Mr. Simon To - "The China Adventurer" November 5, 2009 (Thursday)

What's the commonality among the following industries: Aviation, Hotel management, Port logistics, Consumer products, Residential development, power plants, transport infrastructure and Chinese medicine? Mr. Simon To, he has been the keystone in building up Hutchison Whampoa China's presence and expertise in all these industries in less than three decades.

Lockheed Martin, P&G, Hutchison Port Holdings. Sheraton are just some of the many multi-national brands and joint ventures Simon has brought to and built in China.

For all of us who are now working in China or planning to head in some time soon, Simon will be happy to share with you his adventures, stories and experiences. KEY INITIATIVES / FARM EVENTS  
  
Stanford Center at Peking University 
The SPKU Project Team is growing by the day and in October, we were excited to meeti with Professor Jean Oi and Professor Andrew Walden the champions behind the Beida facility.  The professors will be back in March to update us on developments so watch this space if you want to learn more about the Center.  If you are interested in helping with this initiative, please contact me at president@stanfordhk.org. 
  
Stanford Internship Program 
The program seeks to provide opportunity to undergraduates to learn about Asia and gain real work experience in an international environment.  Last summer, 25 Stanford students interned in the Greater China area, including one student with HSBC in Hong Kong. The University is looking for host organizations that can offer such experience while making use of their skills.  If your organization may be interested to host such interns, please contact me at president@stanfordhk.org for more information and to connect with the organizer. 
  
Leading Matters – 30 January 2010      
Leading Matters will be held in Singapore on 30 January 2010 (PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR MORE INFO) and the Club will be liaising with the Singapore alumni organizers for a delegation from HK.  Thanks to your response we are beginning to put in shape a decent size delegation and look forward to seeing more with you there.  Please contact me at president@stanfordhk.orgif you are interested to join the delegation.
