ABOUT THE CHOIR

Diana Isherwood founded St. Andrew’s Children’s Choir in September 1992. There have always been approximately 50 choristers from 7 to 18 years of age.

One of the aspects was to develop a young choir that leads to the opportunity to join the Senior Choir.

The function of the choir was to participate and celebrate in the Sunday Mass by providing an understanding of the Cyclical Liturgy of the Church.

As well as singing at Mass, the children were taught how to read at a Mass and after the age of 12 could be selected to cantor.

Scholarships towards further education are currently being awarded to long-serving choristers.

The Choir is also involved with participating in municipal functions, community awareness, hospitals and senior residences.
