Here are some of my posts discussing Did Calvin Murder Servetus?

I am an attorney who recently wrote a book Did Calvin Murder Servetus? In it, I demonstrate that (a) Calvin violated his own principles of toleration of heresy; (b) misrepresented and misled the non-professional court to believe a death penalty applied in Geneva when none did; (c) cut off the right of counsel and appeal in a maliscious effort to make the trial end in death; and (d) misrepresented the statements of Servetus to the court in obvious fabrications and exaggerations. Thus, the conclusion is that Calvin, by virtue of a false witness, and abundant evidence of malice, murdered Servetus. (Executed Today Oct08).1

I am the author of Did Calvin Murder Servetus? (2009). Mr. George is incorrect on two points. First, he is wrong that the "Genevan officials who condemned Servetus to death were actually Calvin's opponents, not his henchmen." As explained by Calvin defender Rilliet Rilliet in Calvin and Servetus: The Reformer’s Share in the Trial of Michael Servetus (J.Johnstone, 1846) at 203, "the keenest adversaries of the Reformer [i.e., Calvin] were not present, except Perrin, whilst not a Calvinist councillor was absent..." All seven Calvinists voted death. Perrin was the only opponent of Calvin's party present in the verdict, and he alone voted for acquittal. Mr. George also errs in trying to justify Calvin based upon Catholic policy of persecuting heresy. Protestants, including Calvin, universally opposed persecuting heretics prior to 1553. Calvin alone post 1553 changed. See my knol for details at http://knol.google.com/k/standford-rives/servetus-calvin/g6z6g2l2q6zj/1#ref erences. Standford. (Christianity Today 9/10/2009).
