“Fascinating movement nuances, a mastery of spatial techniques, surprising theatricality coupled with intense depth of expression.” – Eric Matherson; Philadelphia Inquirer

“Dance with integrity is not seen often enough…Encore, encore, Mr. Staib.” – Hal DeBecker; Las Vegas Review Journal

Atlanta-based Staibdance has been together unofficially for seven years. Since its official debut in 2007, the company has produced five concerts including an evening-length collaboration with the internationally acclaimed Vega String Quartet in February of 2009. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution called the performance “magnetic, tense and euphoric – like romance itself” and hailed the choreography as “bold and kinetic” and “seamlessly tuned to the music.” Following the success of that performance, Staibdance was produced at the annual Big Range Festival at the Barnevelder Theater in Houston, Texas. Reviewer Neil Ellis Orts of Dance Source Houston praised Staib for his “strong command of a diverse movement vocabulary and [his] gift for large-cast dances.” Staibdance was also a proud participant at the Cobb Energy Center’s Overture to the Arts in the fall of 2009.

In 2010 the company was not only featured on Atlanta’s CBS morning show, but was also invited to develop a two-week residency and workshop in Sorrento, Italy. The workshop, which debuted in July 2010, culminates in a performance in Sorrento's beautiful outdoor amphitheater Parco Ibsen. In addition, the Vega String Quartet and pianist William Ransom have invited Staibdance to embark on a second collaboration set for the September 2010. Critically-acclaimed composer Kendall Simpson will work with Staib to create original compositions for the evening-length performance, which will also feature classical works by Chopin, Schumann, and more.
