1. Watch Ben Zander's Ted Talk
2. Leave a comment about what parts of the video spoke to you and why.
3. Create a blog post that briefly tells us about one of your passions. If you could spend a day teaching any group of interested learners about something that you are passionate about (anything!!) what would it be.
4. Insert a video related to your passion that you found on You Tube or Google Video and insert the Video in your blog post. |
MLK Jr. reference “I have a dream, but I’m not sure everyone is up to it”
A leader must believe in the capacity of the people.
Shoppin Man had sneakers to sell in Africa...he should go.
The part of the video that spoke to me was to always remember what you say to someone could be the last thing you might say to them. This is soooo hard to do sometimes.
I liked his confidence and presence.
I also liked his indicator of reaching all people. (Eyes)
"My job is to waken possibilities in others." When Ben Zanders said these words, he spoke and I listened. I am firmly grounded in the belief that all students have limitless POTENTIAL - possibilities - and as educators it is absolutely our jobs not to simply convey information but to waken their potential in order to receive information on their own and become independent learners.
The part of the video that spoke to me the most was "the journey" that music takes you on. Whether it be classical or The Grateful Dead, music is meant to evoke emotions and feelings and take you places mere words and pictures can not.
I thought of my grandfather while listening to Chopin and could feel the emotional connection. I miss him!!
"Clap for Listening" and "Awaken possibility in other People" two great quotes to remember from Ted's Talk.
I am not sure if the Grateful Dead brings you on the ride.
@nancy - I understand that this would particularly touch you. I was thinking of you when he said that.
There are those of us that think the Dead are the ride...get on the bus John
alan,we need to drive slower to get the VPR time in
@steve I liked the shoe thing too. having a positive attitude is 1/2 the battle
