Japan & U.S. Joint Study and USDOJ Petition

Joint Monitoring Data

When U.S. data results do not convince the Government of Japan (GOJ) and the Kanagawa Prefecture Government (KPG) because of each party's profound distrust of the other side's data, the US - Japan Joint Committee agreed to generate mutually agreeable data utilizing a joint monitoring program.   The results of this and previous studies, dating back to 1989, were then used as the basis of the lawsuit to shut down the incinerator that polluted NAF Atsugi, Japan for almost 18 years.
