Personal background

I am a Nebraska native, born in Sidney and then moved to Omaha at an early age.  My next move was to Washington DC for college--a notable decision, as it was there I met my future husband, Dan Gilbert.  After a year of living in Japan and six months of travel in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States, we were married in 1999 at Joslyn Castle in Omaha.    

The next week we moved to California, and in the nine years since we have collected two Master's degrees in education, six household moves, and two delightful children, Micah (almost 5) and Noemi (two-and-a-half going on 14).  Any given day will likely find us playing at one or more parks, building space shuttles out of Lego, eating our weight in blueberries and sunflower seeds, wondering what Japan is doing right now, and reading "just one more bonus book," and then another. 

In moments of free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, and watching Georgetown basketball.
