There are a variety of scholarships offered through SPU's School of Education. To simplify the application process, the School of Education offers one online form for students interested in any of the scholarships. Ross Trust Graduate Student Scholarship CompetitionThe American Counseling Association, in collaboration with the ACA Foundation, announces the third annual Ross Trust Graduate Student Scholarship competition. Through the generosity of Roland and Dorothy Ross, the Ross Trust was set up to provide scholarships to students preparing for counseling roles in the nation's elementary, middle and secondary schools. Roland Ross was an active member of ACA for many years. For more information, click here.
Student Loan Forgiveness for EducatorsMany questions exist about opportunities for educators to qualify for student-loan forgiveness. The American Counseling Association recently (April, 2005) created an informative brief which outlines current resources, who qualifies (teachers and counselors), and who to contact. Kingswood ScholarshipNamed to honor John Wesley’s Christian School, the School of Education at Seattle Pacific University provides the Kingswood Scholarship for teachers and administrators who serve in private Christian elementary and secondary schools. The purpose of this scholarship is to acknowledge in a tangible way the valuable services they provide to the Christian community. These scholarships are limited in number depending upon available funds for qualified Christian school employees who are interested in obtaining an advanced degree or an additional certificate.
To be eligible for application, applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Be accepted into a graduate program or graduate certification program.
- Be enrolled in one or more courses each quarter.
- Maintain all graduate student requirements for continuation in the program.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Be employed half-time or more in a state approved Christian elementary or secondary school.

Diversity ScholarshipThe School of Education at Seattle Pacific University provides a limited number of Ethnic Diversity Scholarships for educational professionals who serve or plan to serve in K-12 public and/or private schools. These scholarships are limited in number depending upon available funds for qualified applicants.
To be eligible for application, applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Be accepted into a graduate program or graduate certification program.
- Be enrolled in one or more courses each quarter.
- Maintain all graduate student requirements for continuation in the program.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Represent an under-represented ethnic minority group
Graduate Assistantships and Related Education/Counseling Jobs
Approximately four graduate assistant positions become available each academic year in the School of Education. Appointments are renewable. Assistants work approximately 15 hours per week with designated faculty on various projects. They receive between $15-20 per hour (based on student’s graduate program), and are paid bi-monthly. Graduate Student Grant: Apply Now for the American College Counseling Association's Emerging Leader Grant for the 2012 ACA Convention!
The
American College Counseling Association (ACCA) is once again offering an
opportunity for master’s and doctoral level graduate students and new
professionals to be recognized for outstanding leadership in the profession of
college counseling! ACCA invites applications for four ACCA Emerging
Leader Grants for the 2012 ACA Convention in San Francisco, CA, March 2012. The
ACCA Graduate Student Committee oversees the selection process for graduate
students and new professionals to encourage attendance and participation in the
2012 ACA Convention.
Graduate students and/or new professionals will receive grants
to cover the cost of the Advanced Registration fee to the ACA
conference. They will be acknowledged and given a certificate, and will also
participate in an Emerging Leader training at the conference.
Additionally, ACCA Emerging Leaders will:
· Serve
as a member on one of 12 ACCA committees for at least one year beginning
no later than July 1, 2012;
· Write
an article for VISIONS for publication in the Graduate Student Column;
submitted by May 1, 2012; and
· Volunteer
at the ACCA booth at the 2012 ACA Convention for a minimum of 5 hours

Emerging
Leader grants are a unique opportunity to both demonstrate your leadership activities
through scholarship and service, as well as initiate future leadership
opportunities within ACCA.

Federal Loans available
- Federal Stafford Loans are available to students who complete a Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
and enroll at least half-time in college. The federal government offers
loans with an interest subsidy to students who show financial need and
loans without an interest subsidy, for students who do not show need or
show a limited amount of need. If eligible for the interest subsidy, the
government will pay the interest on the loan while you are enrolled at
least half-time and during the six month grace period. If eligible for
an unsubsidized loan, students are responsible for the interest charge
upon receipt of the loan.
