The Society of Physics Students works hard each year to provide social and educational events for students and faculty.
We feel that opening a line of communication through social gatherings helps to facilitate trust, friendship, networking and
learning. Each year SPS works with valued faculty to organize social functions such as themed potlocks, dinners, a picnic,
women's breakfast and the spring banquet. We also organize educational events such as GRE practice workshops and
academic schedule planning.
Please stop by H-bar in building 52 (the spider building) room E25 to meet other physics majors. Many students pass
the time in h-bar between classes by doing homework, working on the computers, printing, and using the internet access.
You are more than welcome to stop by and hang out anytime. Hope to see you soon.
Fall 2010 saw the start to our SPS Peer Advising, which brought the hbar resources out of the basement. Freshman and transfer can make a direct connection to an upperclassman who can answer questions that maybe only an upper division physics student can answer. Interested students can fill out a form (found in the department office or in hbar) and turn it in to the office. They will be contacted by a Senator who knows everything about anything.
