Esther Reed Chapter, DAR, was organized June 14, 1900.
It is nationally known as "The Flag Chapter."

Esther Reed Chapter of DAR is active in today's Spokane, just as in the past 109 years!

Service projects include everything from the Spokane Veteran's Hospital programs to the newly restored Fox Theatre in downtown Spokane. The chapter also awards yearly the Grace Hallock Pike Scholarship to a college student entering their junior year with first priority given to relatives or members of the Esther Reed Chapter. Good Citizens awards to high school seniors, ROTC medals, and Community Service awards are also given to worthy local people for outstanding achievements in cultural, educational, humanitarian, patriotic, and citizenship work.  Our conservation work encompasses paper recycling, tree planting, and education about natural resources.  The chapter recognizes and applauds those responsible for historic preservation of our natural resources, parks, monuments, and buildings.  Yearly awards and certificates are given to outstanding projects and team members.

We support our Veterans and military service people around the globe,  participate in Memorial Day events, parades, and naturalization ceremonies.  We collect soup labels for DAR schools.  In addition our chapter created several historical markers throughout Washington, including the Steptoe Battlefield Monument in Rosalia and the George Washington Monument at Manito Park in Spokane.

Guests are welcome to attend our meetings held at St. John's Cathedral in Spokane.  We look forward to you visiting soon.

Chapter Meetings are generally held on the second Saturday of the month, from September through May.
