Rules And Regulations

CODE OF CONDUCT & MCL RULES

Over the years, SPCC has built a reputation on self-governance and integrity.  In fact, we founded and helped MCL put together its "Code of Conduct" document.

There are policies and procedures regarding

1.) Cricket Whites

2.) Deadline for Registration of New Members with MCL before the game.

3.) Game time.

4.) Sledging and useless blather

5.) Protocol for addressing issues that arise on the ground etc.

For more information on these or any other matter, please contact the captain or vice-captain.

If you are selected to play a game:

1.) You are expected to show up at the designated ground at the time announced by the Selection Committee.  In extraneous circumstances, you MUST convey the information to the Captain.  If you are perpetually late, it hurts not only the club but also your reputation.

2.) If you are NO-SHOW for whatever reason, you've automatically disqualified yourself from all future games for the rest of the season.

We expect each member to uphold all Rules and Regulations of the League because it is the "right thing to do".  Also, because we recognize that the management and organizers are just volunteers and avid cricketers (just like you and me) who are attempting to create an atmosphere where gentlemanly cricket can be played.  Hence, please co-operate.

BUILDING & UPHOLDING TEAM SPIRIT

Each member is expected to contribute to the building the team spirit.  That means:

1.) We come from various parts of the world, each with its own prejudices.  Please leave them at home.  Do not bring it to the ground or into SPCC.  There is ZERO tolerance in this matter.

2.) Each member is valuable, regardless of their ability to perform.  Give due consideration for one another.  There are NO "greater among equals".

3.) Since we come from various parts of the world, we probably speak in different languages and/or dialects.  When playing for SPCC, the language is ENGLISH.  Please be courteous and speak in the common language.

4.) For the record.  While we call our club St. Pauls Cricket Club, we DO NOT care what religion you practice at home.  We absolutely care about your "Content of Character".

5.) Each member is expected to make best effort to gel with the team.  A more cohesive team has a better chance to win tournaments and games.

6.) On the field of play, there is ONE Captain.  Please respect his leadership and follow, regardless of a different opinion.  The Captain is ALWAYS open to hearing your suggestions and making necessary adjustment.  Nihal Puri is a senior player who has played at high level of cricket.

7.) If you feel that the team has not heard and addressed your concerns sufficiently, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.  I will make all efforts to redress it.

SELECTION COMMITTEE

Over the years we have learned that it is better to have a Selection Committee to pick the team for a game.  This not only removes the Captain from the hot-seat, it also brings in a few pairs of extra eyes to monitor fairness in apportioning the playing opportunities commensurate to your performance.

During the regular season, the Club has two objectives:

1.) Put out the best team possible for every game.

2.) Give everybody a reasonable number of chances to play and prove themselves.
