  • What changes/stays the same when reading/writing different genre?
  • How can I learn to be a better reader/writer from other readers/writers?
  • What can I add to my “toolkit” to enhance my literacy?
 
Important Information: 
 

Student Reading Records

-Each student records books read on the reading record located in the reading log section of the language arts composition notebook (page 8)

-Recently checked and many students need help remembering this task

-Read a minimum of 30 minutes, five nights each week

-Individual reading goals meet or exceed the minimum and should have a parent initials (language arts composition notebook, page 8)

Reader’s Response Letters

-Format has changed this year.

-Remember format on pages 12-14 of language arts composition notebooks

-Parents will receive letters approximately 1 time every 4 weeks.

-Child will ask parent to respond to the letter.

-Appointment schedules are located in student planners and language arts composition notebooks

-Remember jot list for planning letter prior to writing

-When writing to parents, students are to come to class with a response on the Tuesday due date

-Examples are included in the attachments on this page.
