Dear Parents: I have listed some information on how to help your child achieve success in their language studies. Oral participation is of the utmost importance. It is the only way to have them practice their new skills and allow the students to achieve confidence in the language. Participation points are very important to their grade. Participation must be done in Spanish and reflect a positive attitude towards learning. They are not expected to be perfect but they are expected to try their very best. Learning a language is lots of fun and I try my very best to make it so. Staying on top off all assignments is also key. Without practice the students are not aware of areas which could need more review before any quizzes and tests. A few ways to practice at home is to make use of www.studyspanish.com and www.classzone.com. If your student could use help outside of normal classroom hours MRHS provides a free tutoring service after school. The names of private tutors are also available through the counseling office. A great tool is also available to parents by accessing PowerGrade. You need a login, which you can get by coming to the office with an ID, and then you have all the current grades and comments for each class at your finger tips via the internet! I look forward to working with you and your son/daughter throughout the school year. One of the best ways for us to keep in contact (and for you to remain in the loop) is for you to email me requesting to be on my email update mailings. Again I look forward to getting to know and spend the year with your son/daughter. Hasta luego, Senora Flores-Hull ![]() |
