Greetings from Sasha Life On The Land- March 23, 2009 Thank you to Joanie for the prayer flags sent for Lotzar. They are singing every day. Claire's mom, Sandy, spent the week visiting and cooking much tasty food in celebration of Kenny and Claire's new son. Roland visited Sasha bringing drums and guitar, serenading the space with music. Sasha hosted Rainbows Dylan and Katie. During their stay they helped mud a retreat area and spent 3 days helping pull out tree of heaven stumps. They also helped break up an old foundation in the garden space that was begun by Kenny and Claire. Half of that space has been planted with potatoes and the other half we are planting with onions. This year we are using only organic seeds with the intention of an SSC seed bank. Sasha also hosted Bill who brought 2 California walnut trees. They were planted by the papercrete operation. Once they are established we can graft with our local walnut trees for a high yield local walnut. Alexi hosted Hillary. They spent time gardening and doing practices which included a reading of The Thirty Seven Practices of The Bodhisattva. In the garden we have many new sprouts coming up including kale spinach, carrots, cabbage, peas and many varieties of lettuce. Sophia is back. Hooray! Rashad continues to work on his retreat hut project and we are all looking forward to Susanne's return in May. |
