The Rebel Rollers are excited to be hosting their third Fresmeat Bootcamp for anyone interested in playing Roller Derby.

Learn how to skate and play derby from a great group of seasoned skaters who are dedicated to their sport and their league.  

Who can join the bootcamp?

Derby takes all kinds. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve got years of skating experience or you’ve never even tried on a pair of skates, we’ll teach you everything you need to know to dominate on the track!

All skaters must be female and 18 years of age or older at the time of registration.

When is it?

Freshmeat bootcamp runs on Sunday evenings from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

It starts on Sunday, February 26th and runs for 10 weeks.
Where is it?

 We practice at The Roller Skating Place at ODAS Park in Orillia (4442 Fairgrounds Road).

What does it cost?

 The bootcamp costs $125 for 10 weeks.
What do I need to bring?

 All skaters need to provide their own gear. Gear includes:

-       quad skates 
-      helmet

-       mouthguard

-       elbow pads

-       knee pads

-       wrist guards

 Where can I get gear?

While helmets and pads are available at a variety of stores, we strongly recommend that you invest in gear that’s made to take the beating that derby gives it. Proper derby gear is available both from local merchants and online. Your knees will thank you!

Can I come and check it out first?

Of course! We are hosting a Fresh Meat and Greet night on Wednesday, February 15th from 7 PM to 9 PM and ODAS Park in Orillia (4442 Fairgounds Road).

 

You’ll be able to try on a pair of skates and roll around the track with league members. Check out our awesome Rebel merch, shop for gear from one of our vendors, watch the Boneyard Betties scrimmage against the Ghoul Guides and, most importantly, register for bootcamp!

How do I sign up?

You can register at the Fresh Meat and Greet on February 15th or on the first session of the bootcamp on February 26th. All bootcamp fees are due at the time of registration.

Where can I go for extra practice?

There are open skates and track skates at a variety of locations.

Sunday 1 PM to 4 PM

 

Cost is $5 per session and includes skate rental.

What happens after bootcamp?

Everyone who finishes bootcamp will have a place as a Rebel!

Once bootcamp is over, you will take the WFTDA Minimum Skills test. All skaters in the league that wish to play in bouts and scrimmages need to pass this test prior to playing.

League membership costs $50 per month in dues and $50 yearly for skater insurance.
