Our School Day

All School Silence

Silence is one of our foundation practices as a school community.  This time of intentional serenity moves us from the outside busy-ness to our internal wellness grounded in gratitude, a paying attention of our feelings, and an overall sense of well being.  EVERYONE in the building is expected to stop and practice 3 minutes of silence between 8:40-8:43 AM.  You are encouraged to come and join your child’s classroom or our Friday Spirit Assembly to start your day off in silence with all of us.

Friday Spirit Assemblies

“Strengthening our community by establishing a school climate that makes everyone feel valued as a contributing member.”

Spirit assemblies are held from 8:35-9:20 AM two to three Fridays per month in the Rotunda.  This is an opportunity to make all-school announcements, showcase student talent, recognize students for their achievements and build our school community.  We encourage families to join us.

It is wonderful to watch how learning is integrated into a Friday performance.  One of the greatest strengths that the South Shore community brings to the Sprit Assemblies is the commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive community of learners.  While the experience enables students to realize that the journey can be just as enjoyable as the destination, Spirit Assemblies also foster a sense of unity within our students.

Spirit Assemblies also showcase learning through the performing arts by utilizing such elements as speech, music, song, dance and drama.
