Our Committees need Volunteers!

Membership Committee:   Contact Johnny Bryant at johnny_bryant_2002@yahoo.com to become a member or to help with PTSA membership activities.  

Outreach Committee:  The goal of this committee is to bring diverse programs/services in the school for families, reach out to community for collaborations this could include many programs geared to specific family/student needs and wants of the school community that do not already exist. Services are school based, student/family focused.  Activities include a ZUMBA class for adults, a Middle School Parent Chat with Officer Carter addressing cyberbullying, Parent Chats with Administration,  Family Fitness Night, family math night and family literacy night. Budget Committee:  The budget committee will assist the Treasurer with fiduciary responsibilities to ensure financial accountability. Contact Jai Bryant at jai.bryant@yahoo.com

Garden Committee: Contact Freddie Overstreet at foverstreet@seanet.com   Support our garden education program to promote and model earth stewardship and wellness in our school community and neighborhood. This committee will develop resources to sustain the program as well as seek volunteers for garden maintenance.

Fundraising Committee:  The PTSA pays for school–related activities such as after-school programming, cultural events and classroom supplies. Help identify and develop a fundraising plan for the year and with implementation of fundraising activities. Contact Co-Chair, Keisha Scott at kscott@eli.net

Arts Committee:  Art Committee members will collaborate with outside groups such as ArtsEd Washington, Arts Corp and the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs to identify best practices and apply these to our own school community, ultimately increasing our students’ artistic literacy. Political and Social Action Committee: Social and political issues can impact our South Shore community. It will be the responsibility of this committee to bring these issues to the parent body and make sure we are addressing them appropriately. One example would be school levies. Contact Stacey Jacobsen at kal_stacey@yahoo.com if you are interested in working on this committee!

                   



 
Cultural and Special Events committee:  The events committee will coordinate a wide variety of events including - but are not limited to - our annual cultural celebrations (Black History Month, Lunar New Year, etc.), Bookfairs, Back2School BBQs, Bilingual Night, Summer Carnival, Math Night, etc.  Events committee members will meet at least once a month. Immigration and Language committeeThis committee will organize various workshops that will address health, law, intercultural communication pertaining to immigrants. Contact Anita Koyier-Mwamba at wakili2u@gmail.com 
                       
Athletics committee This committee will help expand the athletic opportunities for students. May work in conjunction with Mr Fulford. We are looking for a chair person for this committee.
