Southport Chess Clubprovides a friendly and supportive environment for chess players of all ages: the Senior Section of the club has members ranging in age from 16 to 80+, and the very active Junior Section caters for children of age 7 years and upwards. New members are always welcome.
The Senior Section of the club meets every Monday night from 7.30pm to 10.30pm in the Southport Railway Club.
Here you can partake in friendly games
against other members with a broad range of ability. Competitions are
held throughout the year ranging from one-night Lightning or Blitz
tournaments through to all-against-all competitions running over several
months. We have are two Senior teams in the Merseyside League and we
also compete in Merseyside Cup and Lightning Competitions.
If you are interested in
playing Chess on a friendly or competitive basis, just turn up to the Club any
Monday evening to give it a try. You can attend for three times before deciding
to become a Club member.
Structured tuition is provided to develop
the chess skills and competences of the members, who also participate in
friendly games and competitive tournaments. We have two Junior teams in
the Merseyside League and we also compete in other tournaments in the
region.
