Welcome

We are a small and friendly choral society based in the village of South Nutfield, near Redhill in Surrey and have around 35 members from the village and surrounding area. We sing a wide variety of sacred and secular music ranging from works such as Fauré’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah, to part-songs, madrigals, stage music and more. We rehearse in the recently-built Community Centre attached to Christ Church, on Monday evenings from 8 to 10 p.m., with a short half-time coffee break.

We are fortunate to have a very experienced conductor, Christopher Pratt who has a lifetime’s experience of choral conducting and music teaching and is widely known and respected in the area for this. Through him we also have gained talented young professional soloists and accompanists for our concerts.

Our concerts are held either in Christ Church (which has an excellent organ and acoustics) or in the Village Hall, to suit the theme and content of our programme. Additionally, we are occasionally invited to participate in other local musical activities such as carol services and weddings.

South Nutfield Choral Society is a very sociable group where members not only enjoy each other’s company during the rehearsal break (and some people in the pub afterwards) but from time to time we also hold enjoyable musical evenings for members, their families and friends.

We are always delighted to welcome new members who are willing to make a regular commitment to the choir. No auditions are required but it is beneficial to have some experience of singing. Our members range from experienced singers to those with very limited choral and musical experience. If you are interested in joining the choir or attending our concerts, please do get in touch. You will receive a very warm welcome.
