Saturday 3rd March 2012 at 7.30pm SNCS's next concert is a repeat of our highly successful Brahms German Requiem
performance at St. John's Church, Outwood. It will be part of the church's 150th
anniversary celebrations and also part of efforts to raise funds for major
repairs to the church roof. We will once again be joined by the young soprano
soloist, Libby Egwuba but this time the baritone solos will be sung by Jonathan
Brown who is an ex-member of the cathedral choirs at Chichester and Winchester
and also of the BBC Singers. Saturday 12th May
2012 at 7.30pm This concert will be held in Christ Church, South Nutfield. All the music is by english composers and is a celebration of the Diamond
Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen. Some of the pieces such as "I Was Glad" by
Parry and "Zadok the Priest" by Handel were performed during her service of Coronation. English madrigals
composed in honour of "Fair Oriana", (Queen Elizabeth 1st) will be contrasted with
traditional folk song arrangements by that most english of composers Ralph
Vaughan-Williams. Our audiences always enjoy participating and can look forward
to Land Of Hope And Glory, Jerusalem and All people That On Earth Do Dwell by
Vaughan-Williams. Both of these concerts will be very popular and enjoyable events. Do come and join us at both if you would like to. You will be guaranteed a very welcome. |
