What is the RSPB? The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds - a charity founded in 1889 for the protection of wild birds and their habitats. It has over one million members, with its headquarters at The Lodge, Sandy, Beds. There are also regional offices. The society has over 150 nature reserves around the UK covering all types of threatened habitats where birds and other wildlife are protected. What is the South Lincs RSPB Local Group? The South Lincs RSPB Local Group exists to raise awareness and promote the activities of the RSPB in the local community. We do this through our varied events, both indoor talks and outdoor field meetings/trips, to raise funds for the RSPB, and an educational role to promote national campaigns and reserves at a local level. We are one of a network of such groups around the UK. How can I join? You can join the RSPB nationally through the website, or by picking up a leaflet at any of our events. To join the local group you need to be a national member- again this can be done through the website or at any of our meetings. Do I need to be a member to attend a meeting? No. Our events are open for all to enjoy, whether an RSPB member or not. Of course it would be great if you were to join! How can I contact the group? You can get in touch with us through the email contact:- info@southlincsrspb.org.uk How can I help? If you would like to help us in any way, do get in touch. We are always looking for volunteers to help out at our events;you might even like to join our organising committee or help out at a local reserve.
