Information on North Carolina Teams:
|
· Spring fire season has again returned to North Carolina as has the use of a Spring Fire Prevention poster on debris-burning that is displayed at burning permit agent outlets located throughout the state.
· The NC Division of Forest Resources (NCDFR) has not yet utilized a Fire Prevention Education Team in 2011 as multiple Winter-Spring 2011 project fires (i.e., Lumber Plant, Jude’s Gap and SR-8 Fires are a few notables) have been used to deliver both fire suppression and fire prevention messages to NC’s citizens. More information on these recent fires can be found at
http://www.dfr.state.nc.us/fire_control/incident_galleries.htm
· One Fire Prevention outreach event did occur earlier this year at the March 22nd Carolina Hurricanes Hockey Game. The NCDFR resourced it’s Fire Prevention
Education Team van and mobile office along with Smokey Bear to make 18,000
hockey fans aware of dry forest conditions prevailing in central NC.
