The bike renewal program fixes up used bikes and furnishes them to kids and adults in need of low cost, healthy and fun transportation.
Last year we provided 53 bicycles to kids and adults!
-
Every bike included a helmet and a user manual
-
Most bikes included a tool kit, tire repair kit, bike lock, or other useful accessories
Would you like to help? We have plenty of opportunities!
Help with bike repairs:
- Pickup bikes at the donor's home or workplace
- Perform simple repairs like tire changes, cleaning, lubrication
- Some volunteers enjoy going all out with new paint and chrome polish. Not required, but the kids like it!
- Funding for repair parts are available
- Our experienced volunteers are happy to train you
Help at the Juneteenth bike raffle
- Transport bikes from storage to the Ernie Davis park in Elmira (we especially love pickup trucks and large trailers)
- Register kids for the raffle
- Adjust bikes and helmets to fit their new owners
- Provide user manual, tool kit, bike lock or other accessories
Donate a bike in good condition
- Any size kids bike or trike
- Adult bikes are accepted until we have too many. Prefer single speed, upright style with fenders. These are used mainly for low cost transportation for adults in need.
- A volunteer will arrange for pickup at your home or workplace
- We reserve the right to refuse bikes that are not in suitable condition for repair
