How does it work?
    The laser beam penetrates the skin and gets absorbed in the hair follicle under the skin surface. Laser energy destroys the follicle. The number of treatments varies with hair density, hair color, skin type and your hair growth cycle. Sessions for an upper lip or small bikini area can take as little as 15 minutes, while larger areas on back and legs may require up to 60 minutes or more.

Where can it be used?
    Using the laser is a safe way to achieve permanent hair reduction on virtually any part of the body for both women and men. The Lyra Laser can be used to treat unwanted facial hair, underarm hair or hair on your abdomen, bikini area and legs. Many men choose the laser for unwanted hair on their back, neck and chest.

How does the Lyra Laser work on veins?
    The laser energy passes through the skin and penetrates the unwanted vein. The walls of the targeted vein safely collapse and seal. These veins later dissolve within the body. The laser energy is delivered through a hand-held device with a cooling tip that protects your skin.

Is vein removal painful?
    Most people experience a mild stinging sensation during the treatment which stops immediately once the treatment session is over. To help help reduce discomfort we apply a topical ointment to help numb the area.

How often can I have it done?
    Most patients see excellent improvement after just two treatments. Everyone responds differently to treatments, with some needing only one treatment and others requiring a third or fourth treatment. You can optimize your results by closely following the post treatment instructions. The usual interval between treatments is four to eight weeks.

How long does it take?
    Most treatments will take between 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated.

What is the Facial Rejuvenation?
    Facial Rejuvenation is a procedure performed on the face that reacts with your natural collagen under the skin. The Lyra lifts the collagen closer to the surface, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

    Southern Connecticut Physicians Laser Skin Care treatments are by appointment only. We are open Monday through Friday from 9am until 5pm. We can also schedule an appointment for you weekday early mornings and evenings as well as on Saturday mornings.
