It's winter! Well, almost. It isn't officially winter for a few weeks yet, but the water temperature is down to about 60. If you're going into the water, you might consider adding a little neoprene to your wardrobe.

Word to the Wise: If you go surfing, wear your leash. Unless I'm mistaken, the fine for surfing without a leash runs in the order of $500 along the Grand Strand of South Carolina.

I know, I know... that numb feeling you get from playing in cold water is all kinds of fun, but now the water is warm so you can put away the wetsuit and hot cocoa and break out the boogie boards and sunscreen. The jellyballs (non-stinging jellyfish) are common, as are non-aggressive sharks and rays. It's still too cool to have to worry about Portuguese Man-of-War, so hit the beach!

It's that time of year again! Hurricane Season in the Atlantic runs from June 1 until November 30. What can you do to get ready? Check your yard for any trees that may present a hazard to your property when the wind kicks up. Stock up on bottled water and canned food. Make sure you have a plan in case you need to relocate inland in the event of an evacuation.
