The construction, and conclusion of my balloon project.

9/2/07 - Secondary Tracking device is usually a Yagi antennae and a beacon.  I have built a Tape Measure Yagi and could use the signal from the Microtrack to home in location.  I just had a interesting thought about using RFID as another location device, or a oscillator.  Looking into feasablility of this idea.  I am going to purchase the Microtrack today. 300 or 8000, a 45 dollar difference.

8/28/07 - Tracking research. Byonics has a fantastic new APRS tracking unit called Microtrack8000 (8w transmitter and position encoder).  I will decide between this and the 300 (2w).  Need to identify a decent GPS to interface.

6/16/07 - LPSU final report on their website.

5/30/07 - LPSU launches from atop a parking structure in midtown PDX. I was on top of the engineering building filming at 3am. Video

3/11/07 - Last night I created a simple little Space Seed Experiment.   

2/28/07 - I joined Launch Portland State University (LPSU).  I will be working with students on their High Altitude Balloon Project.  I believe this will be an excellent experience, as we came up with very cool ideas for experiments.  I have already started working on details of a very complex experiment, and as simple one.   

10/28/06 - Today I passed my Amature Radio test.  After 2 days of antennas, RF, and propagation, I believe I am ready to research this interlink to communicating with the payload.  I will become a member of the Salem area Ham club http://www.w7saa.org/ .

8/7/06 - The Champoeg event is now complete and I can focus more attention to this project.  I believe the HAM radio interface option will be superior to the Cellphone option.  I have begun my HAM education.  I have begun contacting interested parties on this project, and will bring them up to speed.
