The club was formed in 1991 and registered as 'Central Coast Barbershop Chorus Inc.' (CCBC) with the Australian Association of Men Barbershop Singers Inc. (AAMBS) The chorus within CCBC is all male and was known as Central Coast Barbershop Chorus. In 2005 CCBC became a 'club within a club' at Central Coast Leagues Club in Gosford NSW Australia and changed the name of the performance chorus to SOUNDWAVES.
Quartets are formed within the Club and sing locally for Charity Organisations and compete in regional and national competitions. The singing style is four part a cappella harmony (barbershop) and their Mission Statement is - Bring men of all ages together in fun and mateship to share the joy of singing acapella harmonies within the community, and to continually improve our singing and performance of the Barbershop Style The Club is associated with the Australian Association of Men Barbershop Singers (AAMBS).
The chorus has won -
Bronze Medal in the AAMBS 2nd National Convention in Perth 1993 Silver Medal in the AAMBS 4th National Convention in Sydney 1997 Rose McGee, Music Director (MD) 1991 -1994 and Gary Kirk, MD 1994-2009 Rob Sequiera is the current MD A listing of all convention results can be found on the AAMBS website.
The club (CCBC) is very appreciative of support from Central Coast Leagues Club and Gosford City Council
